Food Grade Polyvinyl Acetate Resins

ANHUI LIWEI CHEMICAL CO.,LIMITED

[Introduction]

Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) is a synthetic resin polymerized from vinyl acetate, possessing excellent potential as a food coating. Even when the coated surface is immersed in water, PVAc coatings retain high gloss. The main advantages of PVAc as a food coating lie in its unique combination of properties and low cost; it is currently used in pharmaceutical coatings and as an ingredient in chewing gum.

2. Applications

- As the core raw material for gummies and chewing gum bases;

- Used in sugar refining and chewing gum production, providing foaming and chewing functions;

- PVAC with a degree of polymerization below 1000 is the most widely used resin material.

3. Properties

- Combines the functions of elastomer, chewing agent, film-forming agent, and flavor enhancer;

- Excellent adhesive texture, strong foaming power, thick foam film, and non-sticky consistency;

- Good weather resistance and long shelf life after sugar refining;

- Imparts viscoelasticity, plasticity, chewiness, film-forming properties, and flavor retention to chewing gum;

- Hydrophobic yet absorbent, forming a flavor-retaining gum base;

- The core material determining the key properties of chewing gum bases.
