EVA 33-45 is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) engineering plastic produced by Arkema, France. It contains 32-34% vinyl acetate, has a melt flow rate of 38-48 g/10 min, and a density of 0.96 g/cm³. This material exhibits excellent flexibility, good adhesion, and chemical resistance. It has a Shore A hardness of 63, a tensile strength of 9 MPa, an elongation at break of 900-1100%, a Vicat softening temperature of <40℃, and a melting temperature of 62℃.
Material Properties and Advantages
EVA 33-45 is manufactured using a high-pressure free radical polymerization process. Its high vinyl acetate content contributes to its flexibility and elasticity, making it compatible with most tackifying resins and waxes, and easy to process and mold. The material possesses good weather resistance and chemical resistance, exhibiting excellent resistance to greases, acids, alkalis, and other chemicals. It also possesses good electrical insulation properties, with a volume resistivity ≥4×10 Ω·cm and a dielectric strength of 20-29 kV/mm.
Processing Recommendations
Injection molding is recommended. The barrel temperature should be set at 225-275℃, and the mold temperature at 40-100℃. Pre-drying is necessary before use; it is recommended to dry at 120℃ for 3-4 hours, with humidity controlled below 0.02%. The injection pressure should be 50-100MPa, the injection speed should be as fast as possible, the screw speed should be 25-60 r/min, and the molding cycle time should be 15-60 seconds. The material can also be processed using extrusion, blow molding, calendering, and other methods.
Application Areas
This material is widely used in hot melt adhesives, wire and cable, photovoltaic thin-film encapsulation, asphalt modification, and shoe material foaming. In hot melt adhesive applications, it is used for bookbinding, furniture edge banding, and automotive and home appliance assembly. In the wire and cable industry, it is suitable for halogen-free flame-retardant cables and semiconductor shielded cables. In the photovoltaic industry, it is specifically used for solar panel encapsulation films, exhibiting high light transmittance and excellent UV resistance.
