What Is Eastman Methyl Acetate?

Eastman High Purity Methyl Acetate is a rapidly evaporating, mild-odor active solvent compatible with a wide range of coatings and ink resins. Its performance is similar to that of Eastman's standard grade methyl acetate. However, Eastman High Purity Methyl Acetate is a polyurethane-grade (low water and low alcohol content) solvent, making it suitable for moisture-sensitive coatings, such as two-component polyurethane coatings. Due to its rapid evaporation, this solvent is also suitable for other applications requiring fast solvent release and quick drying. Methyl acetate is not regulated as a volatile organic compound (VOC) under federal law [40 CFR 51.100(s)]. It is a non-hazardous air pollutant (HAP), non-ozone-depleting substance (ODS), and readily biodegradable solvent, making it suitable for blending and developing environmentally friendly cleaning agents.
