As of the end of December 2015, my country's polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) production capacity reached 1.351 million tons, making it the world's largest PVA producer. Of this, the production capacity using the calcium carbide acetylene process totaled 1.015 million tons/year, accounting for approximately 75.1% of the total capacity; the production capacity using the petroleum ethylene process totaled 121,000 tons/year, accounting for approximately 9.0% of the total capacity; and the production capacity using the natural gas acetylene process totaled 165,000 tons/year, accounting for approximately 12.2% of the total domestic production capacity. The production capacity using biomass feedstock was 50,000 tons/year, accounting for approximately 3.7% of the total production capacity.
The role of polyvinyl alcohol powder: As of the end of December 2015, China's PVA production capacity reached 1.351 million tons/year, making it the world's largest PVA producer. Production facilities are mainly concentrated in East China, North China, Southwest China, and Northwest China. East China (Anhui, Shanghai, Jiangxi, and Jiangsu provinces) accounts for approximately 16.7% of total production capacity; North China (Shanxi, Beijing, Hebei, and Inner Mongolia) accounts for approximately 28.5%; Southwest China (Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan provinces) accounts for approximately 18.5%; Northwest China (Gansu and Ningxia provinces) accounts for approximately 21.1%; South China (Fujian and Guangxi provinces) accounts for approximately 8.1%; and Central China (Hunan province) accounts for approximately 7.0%.
Inner Mongolia and Ningxia are the largest producing provinces/municipalities, each with a production capacity of 230,000 tons/year, accounting for approximately 17.0% of total production capacity; followed by Sichuan province, with a production capacity of 165,000 tons/year, accounting for approximately 12.2% of total production capacity.
Anhui Wanwei High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd. is the largest manufacturer, with a production capacity of 250,000 tons/year (including the capacity of Guangwei and Mengwei), accounting for approximately 18.5% of the total production capacity; followed by Sinopec Sichuan Vinylon Plant, with a production capacity of 165,000 tons/year, accounting for approximately 12.2% of the total production capacity.

(production capacity of 46,000 tons/year), Hunan Xiangwei Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 95,000 tons/year), Fujian Textile & Chemical Fiber Group Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 60,000 tons/year), Jiangxi Jiangwei High-Tech Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 40,000 tons/year), Guizhou Crystal Organic Chemical Group Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 50,000 tons/year), Lanzhou Xinxibu Vinylon Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 55,000 tons/year), Changchun (Jiangsu) Chemical Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 100,000 tons/year), Ningxia Dadi Chemical Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 130,000 tons/year), Inner Mongolia Shuangxin Environmental Protection Materials Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 130,000 tons/year), and Sinopec Great Wall Energy Chemical (Ningxia) Co., Ltd. (production capacity of 100,000 tons/year).
