Uses of Polyvinyl Alcohol 2488:
1. Calcium Gray Putty: Even a very small amount significantly improves the cohesive strength, adhesion, and water resistance of the putty coating, reduces the amount of calcium gray powder needed, and noticeably improves the phenomenon of delamination and scarring during sanding. It also improves the surface smoothness of the putty after sanding.
2. Cement-Based Exterior Wall Putty: It increases the setting speed of cement, improves the early strength of the putty, has good film-forming properties, excellent durability, and is less prone to powdering even when applied thinly.
3. Polishing Putty (Imitation Porcelain Coating): It improves surface film-forming properties, making the coating surface denser, harder, glossier, and more scrub-resistant. A noticeable effect can be seen with just one kilogram per ton of putty.
4. Neutral Interior Wall Putty: Adding 6 kg of polyvinyl alcohol powder and an appropriate amount of cellulose (hydroxypropyl or carboxymethyl) to one ton of heavy calcium carbonate yields a high-quality putty powder far superior to starch-based and 821-type putty powders. This putty has a hardness between that of lime-based and starch-based putty, excellent workability, and superior adhesion, flexibility, sanding smoothness, and durability compared to lime-based and starch-based putty. When combined with gypsum powder and retarding technology, an even higher-grade, excellent home decoration putty powder can be obtained, boasting a long service life and superior decorative effect.
5. In instant adhesive powder, it is the main binder. Combined with an appropriate amount of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and supplemented with a suitable amount of thickening and complexing agents, it produces a convenient, environmentally friendly, high-strength adhesive powder that can be mixed with cement and gypsum for wet wall leveling and can also be applied alone with double-flying powder without powdering.
6. In dry mortar, PVA powder has good film-forming properties. When used in combination with cellulose ether water-retaining agents, it can improve the flexibility and water retention of various cement mortars and gypsum building materials, increase the bonding strength of mortar, and effectively prevent peeling, cracking, and hollowing.
