On the morning of May 20th, the unveiling ceremony for the "Hunan Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Material Preparation Technology and Huaihua University Materials Technology Engineering Center" was held.
Song Kehui, President of Huaihua University, Yang Yingli, Deputy Director of the Huaihua Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Zhou Jinhua, Chairman of Hunan Xiangwei Co., Ltd., and Wei Gaoyuan, Professor of Peking University, attended the ceremony and jointly unveiled the laboratory. Li Qiang, Vice President of Huaihua University, presided over the unveiling ceremony.
At the ceremony, She Chaowen, Vice President of Huaihua University, read out the "Decision on Establishing the Management Organization of the 'Hunan Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Material Preparation Technology'". Song Kehui serves as the Director of the Management Committee of the "Hunan Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Material Preparation Technology", with Zhou Jinhua and Li Qiang as Vice Directors, and Liu Yongjie, Qu Jie, Yin Feiqi, and Chen Dizhao as members. Wei Gaoyuan serves as the Director of the Laboratory Technical Committee, with Yin Dulin and Xu Weijian as Vice Directors, and Hu Yangjian, Yin Feiqi, Li Yuanxiang, and Chen Dizhao as members.

Song Kehui pointed out that Hunan Xiangwei Co., Ltd. is the largest production base of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber materials in my country, possessing over 40 years of rich experience in innovation, production management, and resources. Our university focuses on applied basic and applied research, aiming to serve the local community and develop distinctive characteristics, with a problem-oriented approach and a focus on solving practical issues, leveraging its talent pool in materials science. Song Kehui stated that the cooperation between our university and Hunan Xiangwei Co., Ltd. is a powerful alliance that will undoubtedly create a win-win situation. The establishment of the laboratory and engineering center is a new starting point, a new height, sounding a new clarion call for PVA fiber material research. He expressed his hope that, with the strong support of the Huaihua Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the joint efforts of both parties, the laboratory will achieve fruitful results and have a significant impact nationwide. He hoped that the laboratory management committee and technical committee would earnestly fulfill their responsibilities, ensuring the rapid development of the laboratory, and that all researchers would make unremitting efforts to lead the innovation of PVA fiber material preparation technology. The laboratory should highlight its unique advantages and make outstanding contributions in discipline development, professional construction, talent cultivation, technological innovation, and promoting local economic development.
The "Hunan Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Material Preparation Technology" was established with the approval of the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, in cooperation with Huaihua University and Hunan Xiangwei Co., Ltd. This laboratory is the first Hunan Provincial Engineering Laboratory in Huaihua City and the only one in my country specializing in engineering technology research on the preparation of PVA fibers and functional materials. Huaihua University has specially appointed Professor Wei Gaoyuan, a renowned polymer chemistry expert from the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University, as the technical leader. The research and development team is based on professional faculty from the university's School of Chemistry and Materials Engineering, and includes key technical personnel from Hunan Xiangwei Co., Ltd.
The establishment of the laboratory provides strong technical support for the transformation and development of my country's PVA industry, becoming an important R&D base for new product innovation and technological progress, a crucial training base for senior professional and technical personnel, and an important research platform for the development of materials science and engineering at Huaihua University.
After the ceremony, the attending leaders and guests visited the "Hunan Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Material Preparation Technology". Professor Aicheng Chen, a tenured professor at Lakehead University in Canada, who attended the laboratory's unveiling ceremony, delivered an academic report to the faculty and students of Huaihua University entitled "Applications of Nanomaterial Design and Electrochemical Research in Green Chemistry and Biosensors".
